To be honest, I’m not very good at making the same design over and over again.
When I first started creating accessories, I enjoyed making something different each time.
Trying new shapes, new combinations, and new ideas was always exciting.
But after turning accessory making into a business, I slowly noticed that some designs became more loved than others.
Before I knew it, I was making the same pieces again and again.
One of them is YUI.
The crochet pattern itself is actually very simple.
And maybe that is exactly why it became difficult.
I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist.
I kept thinking:
Can I make it denser?
Can I make it stronger?
Can I make it last longer?
So I continued adjusting it little by little.
Adding more stitches.
Layering the wire multiple times.
Reworking the structure.
This year, I especially renewed the YUI design.
It may not look very different at first glance, but for me, it has changed a lot.
To be honest…
YUI might be the hardest design for me to make.
The process is repetitive and quiet.
The same movement, again and again.
Sometimes it feels a little painful.
And yet, I keep making it.
Not because it is the most unique design.
But because it fits naturally into everyday life.
With linen.
With shirts.
With dresses.
It quietly blends into many styles.
It is simple.
But somehow, people keep reaching for it.
So even now, I still find myself making YUI.
A small story from behind my work.
